if i had to do it over. . .

I want to rip out all the lockers in my mudroom and do this instead. It's so much more practical. Rarely do any of us open our locker doors to put our shoes away. And even when we do, we have to get down on the ground to find the pair of shoes we are looking for because it's too dark and crammed to see in. Hooks and cubbies are definately the way to go.

you know how i love stripes . . .

. . . so of course I could not resist the whimsical design of this bathroom. And this is the kind of tile that was in the bathroom of our first house. Can you believe we contemplated taking it out?! Although if it had been this crisp white color instead of the dingy yellowy cream it was, I don't think the thought would have ever entered my mind :) (picture from the website of house beautiful)

a collage or two

I'm totally into collages lately. I have a really cool one on my wall (even if it is still waiting for pictures in the frames). So if you, too, would like to do a collage, here's a good method:

1. measure the wall or area you would like the photo collage to be hung
2. tape the walls dimensions onto your floor. (So that the taped area is the same dimensions as the area you will be hanging your collage).
3. play with different configurations by laying the frames you want to use for your collage on the floor.
4. when you find an arrangement you like, take a picture of it. Take pictures of all your favorites. (If you take it from a side angle, instead of straight on, it will help you visualize it better).
5. go through your pictures to choose your favorite one.

hooks

I so much prefer towel hooks, rather than towels bars. Other things I love about this bathroom: 1. the tiny tiles of the floor 2. the nice furniture next to the bathtub--makes it so cozy and warm 3. the color & detail of the bathtub
