Tie shopping for little boys is a struggle. There's not a lot of selection, especially if you're not really into theme ties. These I love.
More Yellow
I guess I should have included this with my last post. But being organized is over rated. I totally take that back. Because being organized is what I yearn for. (That is after all, the primary purpose of this blog.)
And it was all yellow
Little bursts of yellow make me smile. . . and so does Coldplay.
The floor looks turquoise to me in this first photo, which is intriguing. I probably wouldn't do it in my house, but I would like it if I saw it in someone else's house . . . Mostly, I like lots of white, some turquoise and a little yellow. I especially like the vintage looking fabric on the chair and the simple molding on the staged blue wall.
Catologue Finds
Aahhh. . . I like these looks. This first chair is on sale right now for $359. Could I have two? Pretty please.

Color Inspirations
How do I love thee? Hmm. . . Let me count the ways: First, I love your slate gray on the walls with creamy white trim. Second, I love your transoms above the windows (except I most always prefer more of a straight-lines-type of design.) Third, I love your teal color against the gray. Fourth, I love your dark, dark floors. Fifth, I love your sparkly chandelier with the ceiling detail.
Cute little playhouse. Garden gnomes have really never looked better. The grass roof reminds me of a cool window front I saw yesterday, which was: (I wish I had a picture--since they are worth a thousand words--and it will probably take that many to describe it . . . ) A small "patio" made from a bunch of four-inch square tumbled white travertine tiles pressed into artificial moss (the brighter green variety) in a grid-like pattern, with a huge urn sitting on top. I loved it and needed to record the scene so I can use it some time, some where.
I've been admiring these stock images from rodney smith. Beautiful. I wish we still wore hats like that. They're so vogue.

Poppy Pins
I love these from foundling's etsy shop. The name is kind of spooky to me for some reason (is foundling a horror movie title?) However, I can put that aside because I love how simply beautiful these are, and the way she photographs them too. Besides I think they might stay put better than the hair clips I've been making. I've got so many silk flowers and scraps of lovely fabrics that I think I might use some of it up this way.
Pink Party
I'm on the lookout for ideas for a girly, but not too little-girly, birthday party. You could use any color for a theme. I like pink best though I think. I am liking these ideas from martha stewart. Invitations are paper dolls dressed in patterned paper.

Sconces
The next step in my current project (the dining room) is finding sconces. I have found many that I love, but I want ones for candles, and that has been a lot harder. I adore this one. Unfortunately for me the price tag is $780 (who???) and alas it is a non-candle holder. Here are my non-mirrored (another requirement-since they'll be on either side of my big mirror), candle holding options. First ones, from Z Gallerie.

Other possibilities from Ballard Designs:

World Traveler

I saw this posted at oh happy day. It's from the house of a friend of hers--they stick a pin in each place they have been. I would find it very satisfying to do that. It's like checking off a list and you know how I love lists. I would get (or make) some really cute pins to stick in the map. Available for $99 from National Geographic.
Pillow is from Williams Sonoma Home and it is WAY too much, plus it's silk and that just would not fly in my house. I'm banking you could find a similarly patterned fabric.
Little Chick Party
I like this idea for a little girl's birthday party or a baby shower, especially the "little chick" and the "nest" part of the invitation. You could use any sort of chick or bird or even a nest graphic on the invitation . . . and a good party favor for easter, a shower or a spring party.

A tidy desktop
is my goal . . .
I will begin unloading this poor desktop over the next few weeks. I get anxiety every time I look at the bazillion unlabeled files all over it. Each haphazard 2008-03...6-06.tiff is getting posted with an easy-to-find label and the place I found it.
I've decided to divide between my two blogs this way. The first one is a sort of scrapbook of my family and current life. I'm planning on having it printed at the end of each year. And this one is for all the other stuff; my online file of ideas for entertaining, decorating, creating . . . and I am going to TRY to be far less wordy in the future.
I am so excited to begin. I wonder what the first mystery file is.

Oh yes. I loved this. I think it would be so cute to do this for party favors for a child's party.
