accessorizing a mantle.

I am brainstorming a few ideas for accessorizing a fireplace mantle.  I am always a huge fan of symmetry.  It may be predictable, but it just always looks SO good!  So, two of each please.  All accessories are from wisteria, except the coral, which is from pottery barn.  The lovely cabinet in the first picture is from holly at life in the fun lane.

i'll take one of these. . .

{for the art room}

{for the library}

{for the family room}

all tables from designworkshop

hanging out.

i would love to see one of these hanging over my kitchen table. so many colorful and original looks i love from seascape lighting.

lots of ruffles.

i always love the fresh vivid colors of the collections from india rose. and i especially love all the ruffles on this latest line!

notes from home tour

A few pictures from a home tour I went to last weekend:

I love the lights hanging from the ceiling in front of the mirrors.

cool wall treatment.

the next laundry room i design should have a desk under a window.

my new favorite countertop. i believe it was called zodiac. said to be as durable as granite with even less maintenance. a little pricier. this and concrete are my top choices for countertops.

interesting detail on the front of the glass doors.

cool metallic chairs.

a black fireplace surround and built ins. different.

chalkboard pots

I saw these on snippet and ink recently. These pots used to be available at pottery barn, but I can't find them anymore. So I suppose if you were in the mood for a project (always) you could paint a pot with some chalkboard paint to make your own. Anyway, isn't this a very great idea for: 1. a party favor 2. a guest's place card 3. a christmas gift for a friend, neighbor or coworker 4. an herb garden (each herb labeled on the pot)

just a l'il bit of red makes me smile

My thing right now is little bits of red. Love the little settee in this bottom picture and also the table's centerpiece.

a sun room i like

If I had a sun room, i would want it to look something like this. image from house beautiful.

design star stripes

This isn't a great photo but it captures the idea of the large tonal stripes on the walls that I loved from the last episode of design star. So who's it gonna be?! Totally Jennifer.

seating for three

A smart and pretty solution if you're short on space. Seating for three with a lovely view of lots of pretty white orchids--which make the table look like it's meant to be there. From style files.

a summer centerpiece

What a simply beautiful idea for a window box or centerpiece. You could line the middle of your summer table with several of these cans of flowers. Brought to you from the camera of la porte rouge. The photography of this blog is gorgeous.

Kitchen Rugs

Some quick kitchen rug options: the top two are from Pottery Barn and the bottom one is from Crate & Barrel (bonus: it comes in 8x8). Why aren't more rugs made in square sizes?

Light & Airy

I am in the mood for light and airy and found these two things from pottery barn as I was looking for a new rug for my family room. I think I'm going to go with this very neutral jute look. It's such a good foundation to work from . . . and most important it's not rust colored. And I like this pendant light. Probably because I love grid patterns.
